 University offers one of the most enriching experiences a young person can have and I'm happy to offer a contribution that might help a student participate more fully in what Reading has to offer.  

 Microbiology was very special for me and was elected as Chair of Microbiology Society. I went on the do an external PhD at Reading graduating in 1969. I owe Reading so much for helping me launch my career as a research scientist. Am now a Professor Emeritus at McGill University. See info LinkedIn.

 The university has been a constant in my life for over 20 years. I was a student and now I work here. I met my partner here and I bring my daughter onto campus to enjoy the fantastic green space. The Outdoor Learning Garden is a fantastic idea and my daughter will enjoy it when she goes to school. 

 Although I am a Maths Graduate, I grew up in Purley outside Reading, and now living in a Kent village in the country. This has made me realise how important the green countryside is to our well being. so I am giving to the Outside Learning Garden to help others appreciate what I know to be true .

 Happy to give back a little for the great foundation that the University of Reading gave me, all those years ago - what followed was a wonderful 50+ year career - dream on, current students, it's much much tougher out there now than when I was your age, but never give up hope. 

 The University gave me a world class education 

 I am very proud to support an initiative that will expand how we share the University’s wonderful green spaces with our local community and schools. Here’s to 100 years, a fantastic outdoor learning space and inspiring visitors to take action to protect our precious planet.
